If you find yourself wandering through Lianjie (链街), the underground pedestrian tunnel connecting Futian's (福田) major landmarks — including Cocopark and the Futian High-Speed Rail Station — you might notice clusters of cosplayers emerging from a particular entrance. Follow them, and you'll find BitCity (次元小镇): one of Shenzhen's most unique destinations and a paradise for anime and pop culture enthusiasts.

What Is BitCity?

Located on the G floor of HUA Plaza (HUA广场) in Futian, BitCity describes itself as the first indoor anime street district of its kind — combining a two-dimensional (二次元) community with esports and interactive entertainment for a fully immersive experience. Entry is completely free, making it an easy addition to any Shenzhen itinerary.

Inside BitCity — every corner decorated with anime-inspired artwork and installations.

What's Inside

The mall is packed with shops selling anime collectibles — figures, trading cards, keychains, posters, and merchandise spanning popular franchises. Featured themes include titles like Blue Lock, Genshin Impact, and other major series, giving fans a chance to find merchandise from their favorites.

The undisputed highlight is the Gashapon section. Niǔniǔ Chéng (扭扭城) claims to be the largest Gashapon machine venue in Shenzhen — and walking through it, that's easy to believe.

Hundreds of machines are organized neatly by category, stocking predominantly Japanese products including limited edition releases. Each pull costs between ¥20–¥35 RMB. It's an overwhelming — in the best possible way — experience, even if you're not a hardcore anime fan.

Beyond anime shopping, the mall also has a skateboard shop, archery range, board game cafes, cat cafes, and a dog cafe reportedly home to 100 huskies. There's genuinely something for everyone.

Atmosphere and When to Visit

The vibe inside BitCity is energetic and visually stimulating — every corner is decorated with anime-inspired artwork and installations. There's even a free cherry blossom car photo spot that's become a popular destination in its own right. Cosplayers are a regular fixture, particularly on evenings and weekends when the atmosphere really comes alive.

If you want a quieter experience to browse properly, a weekday afternoon is your best bet. If you want to soak up the full energy — cosplayers, crowds, and all — come on a weekend evening.

Getting There

BitCity is located at No. 1, Fuhua 1st Road, approximately 100 meters from Convention and Exhibition Center Station (会展中心站), Exit A. Take Metro Line 1 or Line 4 and follow the signs through Lianjie — you'll find it easily. Opening hours are generally 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM daily.

The Verdict

Free entry, genuinely unique, and unlike anything you'll find outside of China. Whether you're an anime fan or just curious about where Shenzhen's youth culture is heading, BitCity is one of the most memorable free afternoons the city has to offer.
